When Angelina turned 32, a major injury forced her to take a break from her busy career as a disruptive tech investor and portfolio manager at BlackRock. During this moment of pause, she asked herself: “Am I living my life fully? Have I made a difference in the world?” She also learned to take better care of herself (eat well, meditate, exercise) and to value life in its wholeness. Angelina began to form new ideas around wealth and realized that financial wealth must accompany emotional, spiritual, psychological, and physical well-being in order to be truly fulfilling. During her medical leave, she also decided that investing needs to be about sustainability and social impact, not only about delivering financial return for clients.
Returning from her time off, Angelina continued to struggle with burnout. After much deliberation, she decided to leave her career at BlackRock to help billionaires, female-run family offices, and female C-suite executives realize their financial, social, and environmental goals through impactful investing. Thus, Heels & Yield was born. In September, 2019, Heels & Yield expanded to include corporate financial wellness programs to bring her vision of financial and holistic wealth, as well as her expertise in disruptive tech and social investing, to a larger audience.
