Enjoying a life of holistic wealth means living and working in a soul-nurturing environment. It means developing a greater appreciation for nature and doing work that allows you to express your greatest gifts and talents. It means caring for your emotional, physical and spiritual health in a way that’s aligned with who you are and what you need most. When you allow yourself to want this and then have it, you can’t help but want it for others as well.

Financial experts like to tell you that you should spend less, save more, and cut out all unnecessary expenses. The more you deprive yourself today, they say, the better your future will be. When you do that math, you see that they’re technically correct, but the reality is that following a plan that you detest and that causes you to feel deprived every single day is almost never sustainable.

I’m sure you’ve heard the concept of extreme retirement: saving half or more of your money to become financially secure and independent by your thirties or forties. Extreme plans tend to work only for people who can be happy and fulfilled living very frugal lives (and who may even secretly enjoy it). Many more of us would give up on an extreme plan, feeling like a failure and spending more than we did before we started, to make up for the deprivation we’ve put ourselves through.

Even if you can sustain an extreme financial plan and become wealthy, what you’ve really become, in my mind, is a financial anorexic -- wealthy maybe, but not financially healthy. Financial health brings a sense of peace and fulfillment, and anyone who lives a life of deprivation will never achieve these things.

I think the need is that people need to invest more when they want to spend a life of heightened enjoyment, and understand that what comes out must first come in, i.e. be commensurate and balance out. Long term planning in fact allows immediate peace of mind.

I agree Krizia, I want to invest more. Care to share what you’ve invested in?

Hi, I’m a single mother, and I want to make money by investing in Bitcoins. Should I buy now, or should I buy at a lower price? My brother in law has made a lot of money in it already. What should I be putting my money in?
